5th Asian Tourism Fair begins in city Thursday

The 5th Asian Tourism Fair-2016 begins at International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) here on Thursday, aiming to develop a regional tourism linkage.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon will inaugurate the three-day fair at 11:00 am on the day.

Parjatan Bichitra, a monthly magazine, arranged the fair in association with Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC). Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited is the premium partner while news agency United News of Bangladesh (UNB) is the PR agency partner of the fair.

The authorities concerned of Parjatan Bichitra, BTB and BPC came up with the information at a press briefing over the preparations of the tourism fair at the Jatiya Press Club on Monday.

Addressing the press conference, Parjatan Bichitra editor Mohiuddin Helal said this fair will help the tourism industry of Bangladesh develop the network with the industry partners and service providers of regional countries and this achieve its tourism development goal.

Tour operators, travel agents, airlines, hotels and other service providers from both private and public sectors of Asian countries will participate in the fair.

Besides, various programmes, including children art competition with the theme ‘Beautiful Bangladesh’, dialogue on Youth and Adventure Tourism, screening a documentary, ‘Swatch of no-Ground’, holding a strategic discussion on ‘Community Tourism in Bangladesh’, will be held on the occasion.

The fair will remain open from 10:00 am to 08:00 PM. The entry fee is Tk 20, but it is free for students, the organisers said.
