Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Friday arrested a young man from the city’s Panchlaish area in connection with the killing of Premier University student Nasim Ahmed Sohel.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Asif aka Ledu, 26, son of Ramjan Ali hailing from Sudharam of Noakhali district, reports UNB.
Quoting Aziz Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chawkbazar Police Station, UNB said Asif was seen in a CCTV footage entering the university equipped with arms on the day of occurrence.
On March 29 last, Nasim, 21, a Premier University student and deputy secretary of Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, was killed and two other students -Imtiaz and Rony Chandra Sheel -- were injured in a clash between two factions of BCL at the university.
After the incident, police arrested five people.
Victim’s father Abu Taher filed a case against 16 students with the Chawkbazar police station on March 30.
The main accused, Md Ibrahim alias Sohah, is yet to be arrested.
