FBUTA protests RU teacher killing

Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Associations (FBUTA) observed sit-in on the Dhaka University campus on Monday demanding the arrest of the killers of Rajshahi University teacher Prof AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee

FBUTA members, led by its president Prof Farid Uddin Ahmad, observed the programme at Battala of Dhaka University around 12pm wearing black badges, UNB reports.

The FBUTA also abstained from attending classes for three hours from 10am to 1pm in all universities to press for their demand.

The FBUTA will arrange another protest programme at Rajshahi University at 11am on Tuesday and submit a memorandum to the Home Minister on Wednesday.

Prof Rezaul Karim, 58, of the RU English Department, was killed by miscreants in the city's Shalbagan area while he was waiting for university bus on April 23.

Victim’s son Sourov Hossain filed a murder case with Boalia Police Station.

The case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
