Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said the size of Bangladesh budget in term of GDP is lowest in the world. It is also smallest compared to other countries in the sub-continent, the minister said.

He made the statement after dividend giving ceremony to four state owned financial institutions on Sunday afternoon.

The institutions are Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, The Bangladesh Investment Company limited, Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited, and Shadharan Bima.

"We need a big jump to increase the size of the budget of country in the coming years although next fiscal year's budget outlay is not that big," Muhith said.

Muhith said the projected GDP growth for next fiscal would be a 7.2% and observed that would be sustainable through the years to come. He said the next budgetary outlay would be worth Tk3.40 trillion.
