Ekattor TV's founder chairman Fazlul Haque dies

Noted sports organizer and founder chairman of Ekattor Television Engineer Fazlul Haque Khan died at a city hospital on Wednesday at the age of 80.

 

"Fazlul Haque Khan breathed his last this afternoon, while undergoing treatment," BSS reports quoting a government official.

 

Also father of noted journalist Mozammel Haque Babu, chief editor of private television channel 'Ekattor TV', Khan was admitted into the hospital as he was suffering old age complexity, the official said.

 

Khan is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter and host of relatives to mourn his death.

 

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today expressed deep shock at the death of founder chairman of Ekattor Television Engineer Fazlul Haque Khan. In a condolence message, the minister said Khan set a rare instance in the field of sports, engineering and mass media as a dedicated worker, according to a release.

 

Inu remembered Fazlul Haque Khan for his great contribution as general secretary of Mohamedan Sporting Club in 1980s, the release said.

 

In a separate message, information secretary Martuza Ahmed said Khan was very cordial for the mass media as a sports organizer, it added.

 

The minister and secretary also conveyed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

 

National Press Club (NPC) president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Quamrul Islam Chowdhury also condoled the death of Khan, father of NPC member Mozammel Babu and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. They also conveyed their heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.
