Freedom Fighter Shamsher Alam Chowdhury (95), a close ally of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, died at a clinic in Chittagong early Wednesday.

Samsher Alam breathed his last around 3:30am at Surgiscope Hospital Ltd in Chittagong city, reports UNB.

He is survived by wife, six sons, three daughters, and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

He was the chairman of Ratnapalang Union Parishad in Ukhiya upazila from 1962 to 1988.

Samsher was also a member of Chittagong Zilla Parishad.
