BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday night went to the residence of her party’s late standing committee member Dr RA Gani in the city’s Dhanmondi area and consoled his bereaved family members.
The BNP chief reached the late BNP leader’s house around 9:50pm and stayed there for a while, UNB reports.
She talked to RA Gani’s daughters Rawnak Khan, Sharmin Gani and his only son Nurain Gani and enquired about their condition.
Khaleda told the family members that RA Gani had played outstanding contributions to BNP and helped the party overcome its cissies and bad time. “The demise of RA Gani at this critical time of the country is an irreparable loss both for the nation and the party.”
“The presence and advice of a veteran politician like Dr RA Gani could have a very crucial to restore a healthy democratic atmosphere in the country,” she observed.
Dr RA Gani died at Square Hospital early Friday at the age of 89. He was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard on Friday afternoon.
Family sources said the qulkhwani of RA Gani will be held on Tuesday evening at his residence.
