BCL infighting injures 10 in Chittagong

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Central Shaheed Minar in Chittagong city on Monday.

 

Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said an altercation ensued between some BCL activists of Government City College and Omar Goni MES College when they thronged at Shaheed Minar area on the occasion of the 68th founding anniversary of the party.

 

The clash took place in presence of the veteran Awami League leader and former Chittagong City Corporation mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

 

At one stage, both groups attacked each other around 1 pm, leaving 10 people injured.

 

Later, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.

 

Earlier, BCL men brought out rallies in the morning in different parts of the city, marking the 68th founding anniversary of BCL.
