Terming January 5 as the ‘Democracy Killing Day', BNP has sought permission to host a demonstration programme in Dhaka to protest against the 10th parliamentary elections held on that day in 2014.
In observance of the day, the party will hold rallies across the country including capital Dhaka.
A letter has been issued to the Dhaka police authority in this regard, the party’s acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at a press briefing today.
Fakhrul told reporters that his party sought permission from the authorities concerned to hold Dhaka's rally at Suhrawardy Udyan.
Party's all district units have also been asked to hold the programme, he added.
