BNP has opened a monitoring cell at its chairperson’s Gulshan office to receive complaints and information about various irregularities regarding the municipal polls.
BNP Joint Secretary General and member secretary of the cell Md Shahjahan on Sunday asked the party’s candidates, its district and municipality unit leaders to send all their allegations, complaints and other information relating to the elections to the BNP chairperson’s office, UNB reports.
The monitoring cell can be contacted over telephone (+88-02-98831991), fax (+88-02-9883452), and e-mail address ([email protected]), said a press release.

Alamgir was made the convener of the monitoring cell.
After receiving complaints, the monitoring cell will brief those media through press briefings. It will also send the allegations to the Election Commission.
A leader close to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said the BNP chief has also set up a monitoring cell at her office to oversee the activities of the party leaders and 13 other party teams formed to work for BNP candidates and encourage party men to engage in electioneering.
He said the teams are sending positive news to the BNP chief that the grassroots party leaders and activists are gradually taking part in electioneering braving the fear of arrest and harassment in most municipalities.
