China, a nation enriched with over 5,000 years of glorious history, is now rapidly advancing to assume leadership in the emerging global order with its formidable political, economic, and technological capacity.

Throughout its long dynastic eras, China has continually refined its governance principles, evolved its democratic values, transformed its mass media into a mirror of the new China, strengthened its economic capacity through modernised models, and reinforced its social and cultural foundations.

Contemporary China has made civic life remarkably easier by enhancing purchasing power through a robust economy, integrating advanced technologies into public systems, and bringing the world closer through the introduction of artificial intelligence in daily life.

Glorious History and Culture

China’s rich history and cultural heritage inspire its people to pursue progress and prosperity. As one of the world’s oldest continuous civilisations, China has witnessed the rise and reign of dynasties such as Xia, Shang, and Qin. Over the millennia, its civilisation has influenced Asia and the wider world through innovations, philosophy, and art.

Chinese culture, shaped by core values such as harmony and loyalty, has flourished through enduring periods of unity, creativity, and reform.

Democracy and Politics

China’s democratic framework, known as the “whole-process people’s democracy,” integrates electoral and consultative democracy under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). This people-centred system lies at the heart of China’s progress and prosperity.

The uniquely Chinese model of democracy ensures participation and accountability at every stage – before, during, and after policymaking – with a focus on the welfare of citizens both domestically and globally. It also upholds gender equality and guarantees women’s participation on an equal footing in national decision-making.

Media Transformation

In its quest to build a new world, China is also modernising its media landscape. The country has transformed its traditional, state-controlled media into a more competitive, technology-driven, and hybrid system that incorporates social media and online platforms. The introduction of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G has significantly accelerated this transformation.

Changing consumer habits and rapid technological advancement have driven the shift from traditional media to digital and online platforms. Television outlets now livestream content on social media, while newspapers have launched digital editions that feature videos and interactive content.

Digital media in the new China aims to capture its target market and generate the majority of its revenues by 2030. Furthermore, media organisations are increasingly adopting technologies like AI, 5G, and virtual reality (VR) to create more immersive audience experiences.

Technological Advancement and the Use of AI

China has become one of the world’s foremost centres of innovation and is on course to become a global hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI). The country views AI as a primary driver for industrial upgrading and economic transformation.

AI is being applied across diverse sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education, financial services, transportation, and consumer electronics such as smart home appliances and robotics. The Chinese government’s strategic focus on AI development has led to significant progress in robotics, autonomous vehicles, and automation technologies.

AI has also simplified civic life in numerous ways – from automated transport systems to seamless mobile financial transactions – and has become an essential tool in academic and scientific research.

China Advancing to Lead the New World

China is now poised to lead the new world, having successfully met the fundamental needs of its people. Its economic model, historical legacy, people-oriented democracy, and innovative diplomatic strategies serve as key instruments in fostering strong international engagement.

Unlike the traditional diplomatic approach of some other countries, China has introduced a distinct model through its visionary leadership. Under President Xi Jinping, China is making significant strides in expanding its global influence via economic, technological, and diplomatic initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the establishment of alternative financial institutions.

The BRI, one of China’s flagship projects, represents an ambitious economic and diplomatic effort to strengthen global connectivity through massive infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and regional cooperation – reaffirming China’s position as a leading force in shaping the world’s future.
