National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Friday vowed that both the ousted and the emerging autocrats would be defeated, saying a new form of authoritarianism is emerging even though an authoritarian regime was removed through the sacrifice of thousands.
He was speaking at an NCP rally in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in Dhaka, organised by the party’s Dhaka North and South city units to demand, among other things, the resignation of the home and energy ministers.
Nahid alleged that the BNP government had no clear plan for running the country and that its priorities were corruption, looting, extortion and a reign of terror.
He also alleged that efforts were under way to hand over an illegal corridor to India.
