BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today expressed hope that Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal would work as a supporting force in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s initiatives to build a prosperous Bangladesh, marking the organisation’s 48th founding anniversary.
Rizvi made the remarks while speaking to journalists after placing floral wreaths and offering prayers and munajat at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of Jubo Dal, and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in the capital.
Wishing success for Jubo Dal, Rizvi, who is also a political adviser to the prime minister, said the commitment on the founding anniversary should be to participate in the country's constructive and rebuilding efforts.
He also wished success for all programmes organised to mark the anniversary.
Rizvi said success could never be achieved through falsehood and propaganda, adding that those who stand for truth and justice would have a place in history.
He also said Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal's contribution to protecting the country's independence would remain indelible in history.
Responding to a question about the use of banned Awami League slogans at a political programme of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Rizvi said democracy was being practised and political parties could now hold their programmes without fear.
However, he said no political programme should include elements that encourage a return to past fascism.
Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan, MP, were present on the occasion, along with senior leaders of the organisation.
A large number of leaders and activists from Jubo Dal's Dhaka metropolitan north and south units also attended the programme.
