Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is observing its 48th founding anniversary today with a two-day programme featuring memorial tributes, blood donation, free medical camps and various social welfare activities across the country.
The programmes also include discussion meetings, rallies, gatherings, tree plantation, cleanliness drives, releasing fish fry and distributing food among underprivileged people.
As part of the celebrations, floral wreaths will be placed and prayers offered at 11am tomorrow at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Ziaur Rahman was the founder of Jubo Dal, while Khaleda Zia is remembered by the party as the Mother of Democracy.
BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi will attend the programme as the chief guest. Leaders and activists of Jubo Dal’s central committee and its Dhaka metropolitan north and south units will also take part.
A blood donation programme and a free medical camp will begin at noon on the ground floor of the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan. Rizvi will inaugurate both programmes, according to a press release issued on Monday.
On 27 October, Jubo Dal units in districts and metropolitan areas across the country will organise social welfare activities at scheduled times. These will include discussion meetings, rallies, gatherings, voluntary blood donation, free medical camps, tree plantation, cleanliness drives, releasing fish fry and distributing food among destitute people.
On 28 October, the organisation’s upazila, thana, municipal and subordinate units will arrange similar programmes in their respective areas at convenient times.
