NCP reconstitutes central committee

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has reconstituted its central convening committee, appointing Nasiruddin Patwary and Hasnat Abdullah as senior joint conveners and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Sarjis Alam as senior joint member secretaries. The party announced the appointments in a press release on Friday.

Abdul Hannan Masud, Advocate Abdullah Al Amin, Ariful Islam Adib, Sarwar Tushar, Nusrat Tabassum, Monira Sharmin, Dilshana Parul, Samantha Sharmin and AK Flora, among others, have been appointed joint conveners.

Meanwhile, Alauddin Mohammad of the International Cell, SM Saif Mustafiz as treasurer, Md Nizambuddin, Nahida Sarwar Niva, Faridul Haque and Md Ataullah have been named joint member secretaries.

NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossen will retain their existing positions.

The party also announced a 16-member Political Council and a revised list of 195 central committee positions. The restructured committee includes 24 joint conveners and six joint member secretaries.

The structure comprises 36 top leadership positions, 28 divisional and diaspora organisational posts, 54 subject-specific secretarial posts, 19 assistant secretaries and 58 general members.

The party has appointed an organisational secretary and an assistant organisational secretary for each of its 10 regional units: Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram North, Chattogram South, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal and Mymensingh. The diaspora unit has eight office-bearers, including four organisational secretaries and four assistant organisational secretaries.

The 16-member Political Council has been formed from the central committee. Besides Nahid and Akhter, its members are Patwary, Hasnat, Sarjis, Asif, Advocate Abdullah Al Amin, Ariful Islam Adib, Dr Atiq Mujahid, Abdul Hannan Masud, Ali Ahsan Junaid, Sarwar Tushar, Akram Hossain, Saleh Uddin Sifat, Dr Mahmuda Alam Mitu and Nusrat Tabassum.

Former senior joint convener Samantha Sharmin has been appointed a joint convener, while former senior joint member secretary Nahida Sarwar Niva has been made a joint member secretary. 

The revised structure also abolishes the posts of chief coordinator, chief organiser and spokesperson. In the divisional organisational structure, Saifullah Haider and Abdullah Mohammad Hossain have been appointed organisational secretaries for Dhaka North and Dhaka South, respectively.
