The Qawmi Students’ Unity Council protested Cumilla-4 Member of Parliament and National Citizen Party leader Hasnat Abdullah’s remarks in parliament over putting an end to musical programmes and traditional boat races in Brahmanbaria.
A group of madrasah students brought out a
procession from the town’s Jamia Yunisia Madrasah around 11:45pm on Friday. The
procession made rounds of different streets of the town and ended in front of
the Press Club, where a short rally was held.
At least 150 to 200 students participated in the
procession. The students chanted “Boycott Hasnat” slogan while making rounds of
the area.
During the short rally, protesters asked Hasnat to
seek apology for his remarks. They also warned of preventing a organisational coordination
meeting and political workshop pre-scheduled for today.
The meeting and workshop is scheduled to take place
at 4pm at Brahmanbaria Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.
