Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the latest increase in fuel prices, describing it as a further burden on ordinary citizens already struggling with rising living costs.

In a statement issued on Monday (1 June), party Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar said the recent hike follows a previous increase of 8–12 percent, and in some cases even higher, last month.

He said the repeated adjustments have pushed the prices of essential commodities beyond the purchasing power of ordinary people.

He added that while citizens are struggling to afford basic food items amid rising unemployment and economic hardship, the new fuel price hike has acted as “a final blow”.

Parwar accused the government of breaking its earlier assurance not to raise fuel prices this month, calling it a betrayal of public trust.

He warned that any further increase ahead of the budget session would be against public interest and urged the authorities to immediately reverse the decision.
