Referendum verdict implementation will permanently stop return of dictators: Jamaat leader

Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Mujibur Rahman on Friday said that nobody can become a dictator ever again if the referendum verdict on implementing the July Charter is enacted.

“Those who wish to become the ‘new dictators’ are finding it difficult to accept the referendum verdict,” he alleged, while speaking at an education camp organised by the party’s Dhaka South unit.

If the people take to the streets to press for the verdict’s implementation, it will not bring good results for anyone, said Mujibur, also the lawmaker from Rajshahi-1 constituency.

He also warned the government against forgetting history. “No government in the past could survive after going against the people’s will.”
