A petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the election results of the Dhaka-11 constituency in the 13th National Parliament election.

The petition was submitted by BNP candidate M A Kaiyum, who contested from the seat. The matter is scheduled to be heard on Thursday by a single High Court bench led by Justice Md Zakir Hossain.

The seat was won by Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

Earlier, more than 30 candidates from different constituencies had filed similar petitions with the High Court challenging the election results.

The court has already accepted the petitions for hearing and ordered the preservation of ballots and other relevant election materials for the constituencies involved.

According to Section 49 of the Representation of the People Order, an Election Tribunal is formed in the High Court to hear petitions regarding electoral irregularities. The single bench led by Justice Md Zakir Hossain is currently hearing such applications.
