NCP Central Election Management Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has alleged that the BNP secured victory in the 13th parliamentary election in collusion with the Awami League, promising it political rehabilitation.

“We are observing that as soon as the election results were announced, Awami League activities have resumed at places. BNP leaders are inaugurating Awami League offices that had been closed for the past one and a half years,” he said at an urgent press conference in Dhaka on Friday night to discuss the post-election situation.

“This indicates that the BNP has won the election through collusion with the Awami League.”

Asif said that since the activities of the Awami League are currently banned in the country, individuals who are unlawfully opening the party offices must be brought to justice.

He said attacks are being carried out on leaders and activists of the 11-party alliance and their homes, and demanded that the government take effective steps to control the situation.

He warned of a tough programme if attacks, killings, and terrorist activities against opposition voices continue nationwide.

Asif alleged that even if the voting was conducted fairly, the results were altered through fraud during counting. Various quarters collectively ensured BNP’s victory with meticulous design, he added.
