BNP Vice Chairman and Feni-3 candidate Abdul Awal Mintoo on Tuesday criticised Jamaat-e-Islami, saying he would not allow the party to come to power in Bangladesh. Speaking at an election street rally at Sonagazi Municipality grounds in Feni on 3 February, Mintoo alleged that Jamaat opposed development and thrived on violence and opportunism.
Mintoo urged voters to ensure that Jamaat candidates fail to secure even local posts, claiming the party did not want public welfare. He asked supporters to vote for the BNP’s sheaf-of-paddy symbol on 12 February, saying Bangladesh would move forward if BNP formed the government with Tarique Rahman as prime minister.
Leaders and activists from the district and upazila units attended the rally, including central Mahila Dal Joint General Secretary Shahena Akter Shanu and several local BNP leaders.
