BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said the country’s youth are fully prepared to take part in national policymaking, stressing that young people must be given opportunities to build a better future for Bangladesh.
He made the remarks in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday.
Tarique Rahman said he had taken part in a lively and inspiring discussion with young content creators and thoughtful youths at Justice Shahabuddin Park in Dhaka.
“Not standing on a stage or behind barricades, but under the open sky. Through our discussions, I understood what kind of new politics young people actually want,” he wrote.
Referring to participants from across the country who took part in the ‘Amar Bhabanay Bangladesh’ (Bangladesh in My Thoughts) reel-making competition, he said he listened attentively to their views. Their ideas, he noted, were powerful and wide-ranging, covering education and employment, environmental protection, women’s empowerment and the dream of a corruption-free Bangladesh.
More than 2,200 reels were submitted to the competition, and the discussions were both realistic and in-depth, he added.
“These young voices clearly show that our youth are fully ready to be involved in policymaking,” Tarique Rahman said. “To shape the future of the country, more opportunities and space must be created for Bangladeshi youths, where they can find pathways to leadership.”
