The Qatari government-funded air ambulance will not arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday as previously expected, causing further delays in ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s travel abroad for advanced treatment.

Germany’s FAI Aviation Group, from which Qatar has rented the aircraft, has asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) to withdraw the Dhaka authorities’ approval for the aircraft’s landing on Tuesday, CAAB sources said.

At the same time, FAI Aviation has sought the withdrawal of approval for the aircraft’s departure with Khaleda on Wednesday. It was set to take Khaleda to London.

The application filed in this regard would be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CAAB sources have told journalists.

On Saturday, FAI Aviation had submitted an application to CAAB through a third party for the air ambulance’s landing at Dhaka airport on Tuesday and take-off on Wednesday. Bangladeshi authorities granted the approval.

Previously, the Qatari government was set to send an air ambulance on Thursday night, but it abruptly suffered a technical glitch, prompting the Middle East country to settle for a rented aircraft.
