BNP announces candidates in 36 more constituencies

BNP announced candidates in 36 more constituencies for the upcoming
national elections, taking the total number of announced candidates to 273.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced
the new candidates at a press conference held at Chairperson’s office in
Gulshan, Dhaka around 3:45pm on Thursday.
BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan accompanied
Fakhrul at the press conference.
Among the new candidates, Reza Kibria, son of Awami League's
late leader Shah AMS Kibria, would contest from Habiganj-1 constituency.
Rabiul Alam would contest from Dhaka-10 constituency, where
Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has applied to become a
voter, and could potentially contest the seat as an independent.
On 3 November, Fakhrul announced the names of potential
candidates for 237 seats. The candidate for Madaipur-1 was dropped the next
day. Following the latest announcement, the party has left 28 seats vacant,
many of which could go to allied political parties.
