BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed hope that the verdict in the case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would meet international standards and ensure a fair trial.

“In Dhaka, the verdict in Sheikh Hasina’s case will be announced within a few hours. I hope the trial will be conducted fairly, in line with international norms. The nation is waiting,” he wrote on Facebook this morning.

Mamun has also turned state witness—the first accused to do so since the tribunal was established in 2010—raising questions about the extent of accountability and cooperation in the case.
