BNP leaders and activists have launched the election campaign for party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in her Dinajpur-3 constituency ahead of the general election, expected in early February next year.
The election campaign began immediately after Friday Jummah prayers, following a visit to the graves of Begum Khaleda Zia’s parents and her elder sister, former minister Khurshid Jahan Haque, at the graveyard of the district town.
Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, president of the district BNP unit, Bakhtiar Ahmed Kachi, the party’s district general secretary, and other senior leaders attended the kickoff of the election campaign.
Later, local leaders distributed leaflets to voters and canvassed support for the "Sheaf of Paddy", the BNP’s electoral symbol, while visiting several areas of the district town.
Mentionable, Khaleda Zia, also a former prime minister, will contest the upcoming 13th parliamentary election from three constituencies: Dinajpur-3, Bogura-7, and Feni-1.
