Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inquilab Manch, has alleged that he received a number of threats from 30 domestic and international numbers, including death threats and threats of arson and sexual violence against his family members.

In a post from his verified Facebook account this morning, Hadi stated that the threats poured in late Thursday night.

According to him, the calls and messages came within just three hours, warning that he was under constant surveillance and that his home would be attacked.

Hadi wrote that the callers threatened to kill him, burn down his house, and rape his mother, sister, and wife. He accused individuals linked to the Awami League of orchestrating the intimidation.

He further claimed that ahead of the 17 November verdict involving Sheikh Hasina, he was being targeted to silence him.

Referring to past incidents of political violence, Hadi wrote that even if he were killed, “thousands more” like him would emerge, vowing not to retreat from what he called a fight for justice.

Hadi ended his post by saying he had entrusted his family and fellow activists to the protection of God and pledged to continue his struggle “until the last breath.”

The Inquilab Manch spokesperson has already announced his candidacy from the Dhaka-8 constituency. On Thursday, he led a ‘People’s Resistance’ rally at Shahbagh in response to the banned lockdown programme previously declared by the Awami League.
