Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Saturday organised a discussion with students and parents at the E-Commerce and Digital Computer Training Centre in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj to raise awareness about preventing dowry, violence against women and human trafficking.
The programme was presided over by Jamalganj unit Shuvosangho President and Jamalganj Press Club President Md Shahin Alam.
Speakers said dowry, gender-based violence and human trafficking were serious social problems that required strict enforcement of the law and greater public awareness.
They also stressed the need to educate adolescent girls and young women about their legal rights and build a united social resistance against child marriage and domestic violence.
Adviser to the upazila unit and founding president of Jamalganj Press Club Abdul Ahad highlighted the realities of trafficking and abuse, calling for coordinated efforts by families, educational institutions and local communities.
Former Jamalganj Sadar union parishad female member Khaleda Akhter, Shuvosangho Joint General Secretary Sadikur Rahman Swadhin Khan, Assistant Organising Secretary and Jamalganj Press Club General Secretary Md Taher Ahmed, Relief and Disaster Management Secretary Mohidul Islam, and executive members attended the event alongside teachers, guardians, and local dignitaries.
