UIU celebrates historic success of Aerial Robotics Team

United International University (UIU) on Wednesday organised a reception at its campus to celebrate the historic achievement of its Aerial Robotics Team (UART), which secured fourth place globally at the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2026 Competition in the USA.
The international competition was held from 14 to 17 September at Skyway Range in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where 81 teams from different countries participated. Competing for the first time, UART became the first Bangladeshi team in SUAS history to secure a podium position.
Despite challenging weather conditions that caused 21 teams to crash, the UIU team successfully completed its mission through strategic decision-making and technical expertise.
The team’s mentor and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Dr Riasat Azim said the fourth-place finish was the result of the dedication, technical expertise, creativity and teamwork of the students, faculty members and mentors.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia was present as the chief guest at the programme, while other officials of the university were also present.
