Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer on Friday rejected recent remarks by Islami Andolan Bangladesh spokesperson Gazi Ataur Rahman, describing them as incorrect and misleading.
In a statement, Zubayer said Gazi Ataur Rahman, joint secretary general of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, cited inaccurate comments attributed to a Christian community leader.
He noted that Jamaat had immediately clarified the matter during its own press briefing at the time.
Zubayer dismissed Ataur’s claim that “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has deviated from Allah’s law and Islamic ideology” as false. He alleged that such statements aimed to sow confusion among the public.
He emphasised that Jamaat remains an Islamic organisation guided by the ideals of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
In response to further allegations, Zubayer affirmed that Jamaat upholds political decorum, engaging with all parties on the basis of mutual respect and courtesy without violating norms.
He urged Ataur to refrain from statements that could confuse the public.
