The Election Commission (EC) will hold talks with 12 political parties on the second day of its ongoing dialogue on Sunday. On Thursday, the EC completed two rounds of discussions with the same parties and shared the list of participants.
Assistant Director of the EC’s Public Relations Wing, Ashadul Haque, said the morning session from 10 am to 12pm will include Gono Forum, Gono Front, Islamic Front Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote, Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), and Bangladesh National Party.
The afternoon session, from 2pm to 4pm, will feature Bangladesh National Socialist Party (Bangladesh JASAD), Bangladesh National Awami Party (BNAP), Trinomul BNP, Krishok Sramik Janata League, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
Currently, 53 parties are registered with the EC, including BNP and Jamaat. The EC has suspended the registration of the Awami League, while the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), Freedom Party, and United Citizens’ Movement have had their registration cancelled.
The EC has also issued notices to finalise registration for three new parties: the National Citizens Party (NCP), Bangladesh Amjanagan Party, and Bangladesh Socialist Party–Marxist. If no objections arise, these parties will receive their certificates after 12 November.
