At least four incidents of crude bomb explosions occurred in Mirpur, Pallabi, and Hatirjheel areas of Dhaka on Saturday evening.

These incidents took place ahead of the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict in a case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina on charges of crimes against humanity committed during last year’s July mass uprising.

On 13 November, the three-member ICT-1 set 17 November for delivering the judgement in the high-profile case.

In Mirpur, a crude bomb went off near the Mirpur BRTA area around 5:30pm, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Mirpur zone) Md Mizanur Rahman.

Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators, he added.

In Pallabi, two crude bombs exploded near the metro rail station around 7:20pm. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Mafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, said the miscreants set off the blasts only to create panic.

In the Hatirjheel area, another crude bomb went off under the Madhubagh Bridge around 6:15pm, damaging a motorcycle.

Sub-Inspector Fuad Ahmed of Hatirjheel Police Station said the police visited the spot and are working on the issue.
