Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 331 this year.

In the 24-hour span, 792 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 83,858 in 2025.

All the fatalities – three women and two men –were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest cases, 125 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 136 in Chattogram division, 107 in Dhaka division, 226 under DNCC, 121 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 15 in Khulna division, 60 in Mymensingh division, and two in Sylhet division.

DGHS data shows that men account for 62.4% of infections so far this year, while women represent 37.6%.

Currently, 3,284 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Dengue killed 575 people in 2024, with 1,01,214 cases recorded. The previous year saw the country’s worst outbreak on record, with 1,705 deaths and 3,21,179 hospitalisations.
