BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that if the BNP returns to power, it will restore the reference to “absolute trust and faith in Almighty Allah” in both the preamble and the fundamental principles of state policy in the Constitution.
Addressing the International Khatme Nabuwwat Grand Conference at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday, Salahuddin said, “Our leader Ziaur Rahman was the first to insert Bismillah into the Constitution. He also added the expression of absolute trust and faith in Almighty Allah. But today, that full trust and faith is no longer present. When we return to power, this principle will be reinstated in the governance of the state.”
He added that if the people empower the BNP and if all concerned cooperate, the party will take legal measures concerning the demands of the Khatme Nabuwwat Committee.
“BNP does not consider those who do not accept Rasulullah (SAW) as Muslims,” he said.
The grand conference is being presided over by Maulana Abdul Hamid, ameer of the Khatme Nabuwwat Protection Committee Bangladesh and convener of the Combined Khatme Nabuwwat Parishad.
The event has been organised by the Combined Khatme Nabuwwat Parishad, with the Khatme Nabuwwat Protection Committee Bangladesh overseeing the proceedings.
