Twin brothers drown in Brahmanbaria pond

Two 20-month-old twin brothers drowned in a pond near their home in Merkuta Uttarpara village of Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday. The deceased were Huzaifa and Akram, sons of Mohammad Akkas Mia of the village.
According to family members, the two children were playing near their home in the morning when their ball fell into a nearby pond. They drowned after falling into the water trying to retrieve it.
Family members and local residents later discovered the incident and rescued the children from the pond, but they could not be saved. Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Morshedul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the deaths, saying the bodies were handed over to the family without autopsies at their request.
