July Martyr Memorial Monument inaugurated in Satkhira

The July Martyr Memorial Monument, built to honour those who sacrificed their lives during the July–August 2024 movement, was inaugurated in Satkhira on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed officially unveiled the monument as the chief guest at a ceremony held in the district town this morning.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Monirul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bishnupada Pal, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shahidul Islam Mukul, City Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maula Mustafizur Rahman, and other local dignitaries were present at the event.

The newly unveiled structure stands 18 feet high and 6 feet wide and was constructed at a cost of Taka 14 lakh. It features the names of the martyrs alongside slogans chanted by students and the public during the historic 2024 movement.

The project was jointly funded by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Freedom Fighters’ Affairs, and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

Following the inauguration, special prayers were offered to seek eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs.
