Human chain formed in Mymensingh against food adulteration

Members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Monday formed a human chain against food adulteration and to raise public awareness regarding its detrimental impact on health.
The demonstration was held in the Bhaluka Bus Stand area led by Lecturer Md Zahedul Islam Subin, president of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Bhaluka unit. The Human chain formed in Mymensingh against food adulterationevent was conducted by its General Secretary, Afzal Fahim Khan Ejaz.
Addressing the event, former Bhaluka municipality councillor Kamal Hossain said, “Due to a lack of awareness, many farmers use fertilisers and pesticides indiscriminately, contaminating vegetables, fish, and crops. Moreover, some producers intentionally mix harmful substances out of greed, endangering consumers and causing severe health risks, including premature death. We urge everyone to cultivate and consume safe, adulteration-free food.”
Echoing similar concerns, Principal of Apollo Institute of Computer and Shuvosangho Adviser ARM Shamsur Rahman stated, “Almost everything we consume today is contaminated, which contributes to chronic diseases and undermines our vitality. Both producers and consumers must act responsibly to ensure food safety. Producers, in particular, should remember that adulterated food may eventually harm their own families.” Shuvosangho’s Adviser Mokhlesur Rahman Monir from Kaler Kantho, and Journalist Asaduzzaman Sumon from Bangladesh Pratidin and ATN News also spoke at the event, among others.
Finance Secretary Sanowar Shanto, Information and Technology Secretary Sakhawat Hossain Sumon, Organisational Secretary Sabil Pathan, Publicity Secretary Zahidul Islam Jinu, and members Nakib, Kishore, Ibne Masud, Bijon, and Pranto were also present at the event.
