A Dhaka court on Tuesday set 5 November for the probe report submission in the murder case of actor Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon, popularly known as Salman Shah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order after police failed to submit the report on Tuesday.
Salman Shah’s maternal uncle, Mohammad Alamgir, known as Alamgir Kumkum, filed the case with Ramna police station on 21 October 2025 against 11 people, including Salman’s then wife, Samira Haque.
The other accused are Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira’s mother Latifa Haque Lusi, Don, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju, and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.
Earlier, on 20 October 2025, a Dhaka court ordered police to treat the case as a murder case and submit a report, cancelling its earlier classification as an unnatural death case.
According to the case statement, Salman Shah was found unconscious at his New Eskaton residence on 6 September 1996 and taken to Holy Family Hospital, where rope marks were found on his neck and his face and legs had turned blue. At his mother’s insistence, he was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, saying he had died some time earlier.
Following his death, Salman Shah’s father, Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, initially filed an unnatural death case.
