A mobile court of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) on Sunday sealed the office of Gulshan Youth Club for illegally using parts of Tajuddin Park in Gulshan-2 for commercial purposes.
The court also carried out drives at several nearby buildings that were operating commercially despite having approval only for residential use.
During the operation, the owner of Pink City Shopping Mall was instructed to remove illegal under-construction structures in the basement, while the Green and Papers restaurant on Road 97 was sealed.
Power supply was disconnected and another restaurant on Road 98 was also sealed.
The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate Liton Sarker, accompanied by RAJUK officials.
Authorities said legal action was taken against Gulshan Youth Club after it was found that the park’s designated library space was being operated as an eatery. Tajuddin Park – an 8.87-acre public space located at Plot 130 in Gulshan-2 – is owned by RAJUK and developed by Dhaka North City Corporation with various facilities for residents.
Despite this, the club had constructed its office and other commercial structures inside the park without approval, prompting the enforcement drive.
