According to Greek news outlet Proto Thema, a major
search and rescue operation was launched after the collapse, with specialised
teams from the Greek Fire Service searching the rubble for missing people.
On Saturday, rescuers recovered the final two bodies
from the debris, bringing the death toll to six.
Specially trained firefighters and search-and-rescue
dogs were deployed during the operation. Rescue teams also used specialised
geophones and cameras to detect possible signs of people trapped beneath the
rubble.
The building collapsed shortly after the explosion
on Friday morning. A possible gas leak has emerged as one of the suspected
causes of the explosion, although an investigation is underway to determine the
exact cause of the incident.
Firefighters, police and emergency rescue teams were
deployed at the scene, while security measures were strengthened in the
surrounding area.
