Kanaighat Association UK, a platform representing UK residents from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet, has elected a new executive committee, with Anisul Haque as president, AKM Jalal Uddin Bablu as general secretary and Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury as treasurer.
The election
was held following the association’s biennial general meeting at Ford Square
Mosque Hall in London on Sunday.

Rahman, a UK-based member of the Kanaighat community, confirmed the matter.
Under the
organisation’s constitution, the newly elected president, general secretary and
treasurer will announce the full committee and other office-bearers soon.
Kanaighat
Association UK is a registered charity in the United Kingdom and has long been
engaged in social and humanitarian activities for expatriate Bangladeshis from
Kanaighat.
The
association also works to strengthen mutual understanding and solidarity among
people from Kanaighat living in the UK, while undertaking various initiatives
to contribute to the development and welfare of the upazila.
Members of the
Kanaighat community in the UK congratulated the newly elected leaders and
expressed hope that the new committee would take forward the association’s
activities through effective leadership and greater community engagement.
