Denmark has welcomed Morocco’s autonomy plan as a good basis for a mutually agreed solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
The position was expressed by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen in a statement to the press on Friday during a visit to Copenhagen by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Rasmussen said Denmark, in line with the European Union’s position, welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797.
He also praised Morocco’s autonomy proposal, describing it as “credible” and saying it “brings a serious and essential contribution to the ongoing UN process”.
He reiterated that the plan constitutes “a good basis for a mutually agreed solution by all parties”.
Through the position, Denmark, a member of the UN Security Council, reaffirmed its support for the international momentum behind Morocco’s position on the Sahara and its autonomy plan.
