Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has announced that the State of Qatar will provide $1 billion in support of the Peace Council’s mission to help reach a final solution in Gaza.

Speaking at the Council’s first meeting, held at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s long-standing commitment to peace and mediation.

The PM said the Council, under the leadership of Donald Trump, will work to ensure swift and full implementation of the agreed 20-point plan.

“The board, under President Trump’s leadership, will advance the full implementation of the 20-point plan without delay, ensuring fairness and justice for both Palestinians and Israelis,” said Sheikh Mohammed as quoted by Al Jazeera.

He added, “In this spirit, Qatar pledges $1bn in support of the board’s mission, aimed at reaching a final resolution that fulfils Palestinian aspiration for statehood and recognition, and Israel’s aspiration for security and integration.”

Trump announced the formation of the Peace Council on 10 January as part of his initiative to halt the war in Gaza. The framework was later adopted by the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803 on 17 November, 2025, addressing post-war arrangements.

The Peace Council is tasked with overseeing the transitional phase in Gaza, coordinating reconstruction and international aid, contributing financial support, facilitating transitional security arrangements, and supporting the deployment of an international stabilization force alongside advancing a broader political path to peace in the region.
