Thunderstorms likely in Dhaka, nine other districts by noon

Stormy winds and rain accompanied by thunderstorms are likely to lash Dhaka and nine other districts, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Friday.

According to a weather forecast issued for the country's inland river ports, the adverse weather may occur between 5am and 1pm today.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said in the forecast that temporary gusty winds accompanied by rain or thundershowers may sweep across Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet.

Winds may blow from the south or south-eastern direction at speeds of 45-60 km/h, the forecast said.

River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist warning signal No. 1.
