Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia route have been temporarily suspended after rough weather conditions made navigation on the Padma River hazardous.
The suspension was announced around 2:30pm on Saturday (6 June) as strong winds, heavy rainfall, and rising waves intensified across the river, posing safety risks to ferry operations.
The development was confirmed by Mohammad Salahuddin, Assistant General Manager of the Daulatdia Ghat unit of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).
According to BIWTC officials, dark clouds suddenly covered the sky over the Daulatdia ferry terminal area shortly after 2:00pm.
Heavy rain and gusty winds followed, prompting authorities to halt ferry operations to ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles.
