Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has hosted a training and exchange session for its international students, underscoring their role in shaping the university’s global identity and future.

Titled “Green Campus, Global Minds: International Students Shaping the Future of GAU,” the programme aimed to strengthen international students’ academic and social engagement, ensure their wellbeing and safety and foster cross-cultural understanding.

The session, organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), was held at the IQAC Seminar Room on Thursday.

Twenty students pursuing BS, MS and PhD degrees at GAU from Pakistan, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Nepal took part.

The session featured addresses by GAU Vice-Chancellor Prof GKM Mustafizur Rahman, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Treasurer Prof Md Safiul Islam Afrad, Proctor Prof Mohammad Saiful Alam, Director of International Affairs Prof Md Amzad Hossain and Associate Director Prof Mohammad Shafiqul Alam.

IQAC Director Prof Nasrin Akter Ivy chaired the session. Director of Research Prof Md Moshiul Islam and Registrar Md Abdullah Mridha were also present.

Speaking at the training, Vice-Chancellor Mustafizur Rahman said, “Students from different countries are not merely here to study, they are an integral part of GAU’s global identity.

“We want to build ‘Global Minds’ among our international students. But before that, we want to make GAU a global hub for international higher education, a place where students from around the world can study safely, comfortably and with dignity while sharing their cultures and experiences.”

He also assured that GAU would work to provide international-standard academic, research, residential and security facilities for all students.

DC Nurul Karim stressed joint efforts to make Gazipur greener, more liveable and pollution-free.

The programme featured a visual documentary, “Discovering GAU,” student introductions, expert discussions and an open question-and-answer session.

International students shared their campus experiences, expectations and challenges with university authorities.

The event concluded with a group photo session and dinner with the international students.
