Bangladesh face a do-or-die showdown against the Philippines on Sunday, knowing only a victory will secure their ticket to the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027 in China.

The Group H decider kicks off at 5:00 pm Dhaka time. The touring side wrapped up their final preparations at the Uzbekistan Football Academy Training Centre on Saturday, focusing on passing drills, positional play, and finishing. With a fully fit squad reporting no injuries, the coaching staff scheduled a Saturday evening team meeting to finalise their tactical approach.

Head coach AKM Saiful Bari Titu admitted his side faces a tough test but backed his players to rise to the occasion. "We kept training light today to conserve energy," Titu said. "The Philippines are a strong team, and their main advantage over us is their physicality and technical ability. But if we stick to our game plan, we can do something."

With the Philippines boasting a superior goal difference after crushing hosts Uzbekistan 4-0, a draw will not be enough for Bangladesh.

"A draw is of no use to us, so we must try to get ahead," Titu explained. "However, our main priority is to avoid conceding early. If we go a goal down, we would need to score two to win. We will start cautiously. We might not create many chances, so we must be clinical with the ones we get. We will wait and see at what stage of the game we need to go all-out. Everything will depend on the players' confidence, communication, and concentration on the day."

Coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan on Thursday, Titu believes the quick turnaround will keep his squad sharp. "Sometimes a five-day gap in a tournament can become tiring and monotonous. Playing just two days ago means our concentration is fully locked into the game," he noted.

The coach also hopes their opponents might drop their guard. "Looking at the scorelines against Uzbekistan, the Philippines might underestimate us a little bit. The big question is whether we can take advantage of that," Titu said. "I am confident that if the girls play a perfect game, we have a chance. Football is football, and anything can happen."
