ABG Sports City came alive under the floodlights on Friday as Bashundhara Strikers faced UCB in one of the eagerly anticipated matches of the Frost Blast T20 Season 03 (Corporate), organised by Dhaka Mavericks.
The tournament has brought together corporate teams, colleagues, families and cricket enthusiasts, creating a festive atmosphere both at the venue and online.
Spectators gathered after work wearing team jerseys and waving flags to cheer for their favourite sides, with every boundary and six drawing loud celebrations. The competition has turned familiar workplace colleagues into teammates battling for the title.
The opening week has already produced some impressive performances. Dhaka Cricketers posted a formidable 215, Bashundhara Strikers smashed 198, while HSBC completed a successful run chase in just 7.2 overs, underlining the competitive nature of the tournament.
Bashundhara Strikers, who secured a convincing victory in their opening match, are looking to maintain their winning momentum. UCB, meanwhile, made their tournament debut on Friday, hoping to make an immediate impact in Group A.
Fans unable to attend the matches can watch them live on the T Sports and Dhaka Mavericks YouTube channels. The matches are being officiated by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) umpires.
The group stage will continue until 31 October at Bashundhara Cricket Ground and Masco Shakib Cricket Ground. The semi-finals are scheduled for 6 and 7 November under floodlights, with the grand final set for 14 November.
Dhaka Mavericks Chief Executive Officer Md Touhid Bin Shafi said, "We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the spectators at the ground and the competitive spirit shown by the teams. Frost Blast is now more than just a tournament; it is a festival for corporate Bangladesh. We invite everyone to be part of this celebration, either by coming to the ground or watching online."
