Akbar relishes batting in crisis situations

Rangpur Division captain Akbar Ali said he enjoys batting under pressure after his determined knock helped his side secure a draw against Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Coming to the crease with Rangpur in deep trouble, Akbar stood firm with a fighting 64 off 132 balls, batting for 193 minutes to guide his team out of danger.

“I enjoy batting in tough situations. Those moments challenge you and bring out the best,” Akbar told reporters after the match.

The wicketkeeper-batter said he was pleased to help Rangpur escape from a difficult position and save the game.

“Once the result became clear in the last 30-40 minutes, I just wanted to have a little fun. I enjoyed bowling as well." Asked about bowling late in the match, Akbar replied with a smile

Rangpur, after scoring 340 in the first innings, were reduced to 0-3 before being bowled out for 149 in the second. Dhaka replied with 284, with Taibur Rahman making 108, as the match ended in a draw.
