Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana has been placed in the highest base-price bracket for the SA20 Season 5 auction, becoming the only Bangladeshi in the final auction list.
Rana has a base price of 1.5 million South African Rand (around Tk 11.1m), with the auction featuring 156 players from 789 registrations. The shortlist comprises 95 South Africans and 61 overseas players.
Paarl Royals will sit out the auction after completing their 19-player squad. The other four teams — Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape — will take part, with a combined purse of US$2.11m and room for up to 19 signings.
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis headlines the local contingent, alongside Rassie van der Dussen, Wiaan Mulder and Nandre Burger. Among the overseas names are Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, Shamar Joseph, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Ghazanfar, Jordan Cox, Aneurin Donald, Rehan Ahmed, Richard Gleeson and Rana.
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has already joined the competition after being signed by Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
The SA20 auction will be held on 7 October.
